New Beginnings

Today is the first day of my last year in my 30s. Each year, the new "age" that I am seems like a number that should be attributed to someone else...someone much older and wiser than myself. 39 can't possibly be the answer when someone asks me how old I am. I do not have a problem with it. I like my birthdays. I don't mind getting older. I have so much happiness in my life when it often seems like the world is in such a bad place. I spend a lot of time volunteering for the American Cancer Society and hear stories on a daily basis of people that are struggling with their health and battling to have just one more birthday. So, I take each year in stride. Happy to be where I am and reflecting on where I want to be.  I continue to surround myself with wonderful, caring people, some of whom I got to celebrate with last night.  I know that everyone says they have the best friends in the world and I am no exception. I am also lucky to count my family in my list of friends.  They are all amazing!

This year will be one of changes for me, not because I'll be traveling the world like we did last year, but because I'm finally getting the courage to do what I should have a long time ago. I'm going to take a hobby I've had for over 20 years and make a business out of it.  My only regret at this point is not doing it sooner. The website is in the works, the logo is designed, the concepts are in discussions, a new blog is forming...Bergeron Photography is a go!  I will maintain this blog as a more personal blog about my family, travels, and whenever I get that stream of consciousness that hits me and gives me the urge to write.  I do have that dream of adding "author" to my list of accomplishments...all in good time...

One can never predict the future and what it will bring. I never thought a few years ago that I would spend my birthday in a train building class with an almost 3 year old (or telling that almost three year old that the best present he could give me is to go in the potty - for the record, he said no).  I couldn't predict that my photography would become a serious business proposition. I couldn't fathom having 3 kids, each so different and each so amazing. I sit here today in anticipation of the year to come. I can't wait to get out there and get things done!

Here are some snapshots from the last month...my new blog, debuting soon, will begin with my top 39 photos of 2011!

Christmas Eve

Our annual Hannukah cookie baking day! The cousins gather and the grandparents bake with them!

Playing in a dusting of snow.

Cole learned the valuable lesson of the difference between Hannukah candles and birthday candles.

Todd and the kids made gingerbread houses for the first time. Cole "played" with his house for at least 2 weeks!

Skye is our resident artist and really enjoyed creating her house.

Our attempt at making melting snowman cookies.

I was on double duty taking photos and video at the same time.

Cole really understood everything this year and went a little present crazy.

What we thought was one warm day turned into a warmer than average week allowing us to play outside and not freeze.

While Skyping Noelle, Cole tried putting a Rudolph nose on her...imagine his surprise when it worked.

New Year's Eve Mayhem!

Old enough to party til midnight!

Wide awake at midnight!

What a great New Year's Eve!

A Pinterest craft gone wrong! The almost Christmas Day disaster...two minutes from burning down the house...

Cole got an incredible hand painted trunk full of costumes. This one is a boxer personalized as "Cassius Cole". Love it!

Todd has turned into quite the accomplished chef...

Every year, about 30 people in Todd's family converge downtown for a day of ice skating, shopping, eating, and laughing. It rained all day, but it didn't stop us from having a blast!

Day two of ice skating...this time indoors. There may be lessons in our future.

I call this photo "Throw Down at Trader Joes"

Don't the refs look completely uninterested in this fight? They all phoned it in for this one.

For Nikki, Marisa, and Becky...Sharpie may not have been playing, but he was still there!
